100 Safest Days
In the days between Memorial Day and Labor Day, more teen drivers are involved in fatal crashes than the rest of the year. It’s known as the 100 Deadliest Days — and it’s no joke.
Vehicle collisions involving young drivers—resulting in injuries and fatalities—are on the rise.
According to NHTSA, motor vehicle collisions are still a leading cause of death for 15 to 20 year-olds. In 2022 alone, over 1.27 million young drivers were involved in police-reported traffic crashes in the U.S., resulting in more than 180,000 injuries and 2,034 deaths—highlighting the urgent need for improved road safety among young drivers.
The problem we’re trying to solve
About the campaign
Each summer, teen driver fatalities spike, with more deaths occurring in the 100 days between Memorial Day and Labor Day—now known as the 100 Deadliest Days. Leading causes include distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving, and not wearing seat belts. Our mission is to reverse this trend and turn these critical days into the ‘100 Safest Days’ for young drivers.
The 100 Safest Days uses engaging challenges and contests to not only reward safe driving, but inform teens on the why of safe driving. Created to combat the 100 Deadliest Days, the 100 Safest Days gives teens and adults awareness of this trend, empowering them to take back control with practiced driving skills and mindful habits.
